As part of the effort to mark the 80th anniversary of the PSMSL, Gary Mitchum and Philip Woodworth are co-convening a joint symposium at the IAHS/IAPSO/IASPEI Joint Assembly in Gothenburg, Sweden, in July 2013. A description of the session is available as a pdf. The deadline for submissions is 4 Feb 2013.

The Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL) has launched their Sea Level Anomalies Explorer, an interactive map that allow users to explore changes to sea level as observed by tide gauges. This new interactive map is in addition to the Trends Explorer that was launched earlier in the year.

Reports presented at the IOC-GLOSS-CARIBE-EWS Caribbean Training Course for Operators of Sea Level Stations, January 2011, have now been added to the National Reports list.

A circular letter has been sent out to the International Hydrographic Organization's member states, asking them to consider digitising historic tide gauge records, and making mean sea level data available to the Permanent Service for Mean Sea Level (PSMSL). These reports came from the GLOSS training course held in Oostende, Belgium, in November 2006. Training presentations can be downloaded from the PSMSL training page.

Volume IV of the IOC Manual on Sea Level Measurement and Interpretation is now available. The volume provides an update of recommendations to 2006 and has been expanded in areas such as sea level observations for tsunami warning, real time data transmission and practical experiences with various sea level measurement techniques. A GLOSS South American web-page has been developed by Juan Fiero and Rodrigo Nunez of Servicio Hidrografico y Oceanografico de la Armada de Chile. The web-page is in Spanish and an English version is under development.

The 9th meeting of the GLOSS Group of Experts was held 24-25 February 2005 at IOC in Paris. A report will be provided in due course. Updated reports can be found from Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, Chile, Cote d'Ivoire, Denmark, France, Indonesia, India, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Norway, Pakistan, Portugal, Russian Federation, Spain, United Kingdom and United States.
